Wines of Lake Constance: the region in a glass

1 min read

Around the lake, vines ripen in one of Germany's northernmost wine regions. Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Noir tell of the mild climate by the water.

Viticulture by the water

Lake Constance is not only a place for fish and fresh air. Around the lake lies one of Germany's northernmost wine regions. The mild climate, the many hours of sunshine and the water that stores warmth create conditions you would not expect this far north.

The typical grape varieties

  • Müller-Thurgau: fresh, light and uncomplicated
  • Pinot Noir: the red speciality of the region
  • Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris: full-bodied and versatile

What goes with our dishes

A light white wine and a freshly pan-fried whitefish from the lake are a well-matched pair. With heartier dishes we are happy to recommend a Pinot Noir from nearby. That way everything stays in the region, from the plate to the glass.

Best discussed in person
